In this tutorial we're going to tell you how to connect a portable hard disk to Android smartphone
Requirements:
1-any Android smartphone having USB-otg support.
2-USB-y cable for connecting HDD to smartphone
3-USB-OTG cable
4-JS USB OTG Android application(from here)

Problems:
We are unable to connect a portable hard disk to a Android smartphone because hard disk requires some voltage to perform its operations and also Android operating system doesn't allows the file system to attach as a USB-OTG

How to connect? the solution is here:
First of all your Android device should have OTG supported
The you require to buy the USB-Y cable this cable have one input and two output the one output is dedicated for power supply and other is for connecting to device (both are the USB output )
Then download the application mentioned above (JS USB OTG) this allows you to mount the file system that Android doesn't allows to mount .

Steps:
1.connect USB Y cables one end to the hard disk that you want to connect to your Android device
2.now USB Y cable have two outputs.connect power input to the power supply.but please note that the power supply should not be more it can harm your hard disk I would recommend this you should use a mobile power bank or connect it to PC USB
Input.
3.now connect other pin to your Android phone via OTG-Cable.
4.now open the installed app (JS USB OTG) it will automatically mount the hard disk as a external storage device and your able to see the content of the hard disk in your mobile. There is a trial and also a paid version of the this app is available on play store. We will recommend you that you should 1st try the trial version and try it then you should buy the paid version.
5.that's all. And we are done.
