  Android OS:

                             Android is an open source operating system which  is mostly used for smart devices such as smartphones,tablets,smart watches,smart bands and many other devices.
                             Android is smartphone operating system developed by google and it is base on the Linux kernel.Android OS is very fast growth because it is open source.There are very large number of mobile manufacturing companies that gives android OS with there smartphones.Some of them are listed bellow:

Advantages of Android:

  • Open Source :Because of open source the Android operating system's source code published by Google can be downloaded by any one and any one can make changes in it and by purchasing license.    
  • Small and simple User Interface:Android provides a small and simple user interface which can be easily understandable to anyone  
  • Multi-language Support:Android has multi-language support because of this android has spread all over the world in less time.
  • Talk-Back Support:Android supports talk back this enables android to support to blind people also because it provides voice feed back.
  • Voice Recognition:Android provides voice recognition by saying "OK Google"
  • Supports Developer options:Android has support to the developer options.If you are a android user you can also enable this feature by :                                                                                {Open Settings> About > Software Information> More.Then tap “Build number” seven times to enable Developer options. ...Go back to Settings menu and now you'll be able to see “Developer options” there.}                                                                  Developer option provides advance options like USB debugging for development in android
  • Large Availability of Applications:  Android has a google play store for downloading apps. You just need to have a Gmail account or simply you can create a gmail account in just a clicks.Play store contains more than 2.6 million apps and still incresing because of Large no of developers.
  • Super user Access:It is not legal to root the android smart phone but android phone can be easily rooted and by rooting user can change the operating system of their device. 
  • USB-OTG Support:Android supports USB-OTG. this allows user to connect their USB devices like mouse,keyboard,Pen Drive to the phone.
Disadvantages of Android:
  • Performance issues: Android provides lower performance as compered with iOS because Android does not effectively manage the applications present on RAM.Performance of device degrades as time passes because the applications present on background runs continuously.User must have to manually close the application in order to improve the performance.It can also a reason that many android smartphone manufactures company uses lower quality hardware in order to reduce the price and this causes lower performance of their devices.     
  • Security issues:Android provides a less security as compered with iOS because security of the android devices easily.
  • Software Update issues:android is the platform where many smartphone manufacturing companies develops their smartphones and sell them but some of the companies fails to provides the software updates to their customers because of this outdated software causes security and performance problames in device

Apple iOS:


          iOS is the OS which is not opensource and it is developed under Apple.Apple is famous for their richness in their products.

Advantages of iOS:
  • Multi-language Support: iOS has multi-language support because of this android has spread all over the world in less time.
  • High Performance: iOS provides very high performance because iOS manages primary as well as secondary memory effectively because of this very high performance is delivered by the iOS device.
  • Voice Recognition:iOS provides voice recognition by saying "Hey Sri"
  • High Security:iOS provieds high security as compaired with Android OS 
  • Good User Interface:iOS based iPhone provides very rich and high end user interface as compared with android.Apple has provided many features like fingerprint sensor and now iPhone have facility of recognizing 3D touch, this allows device to respond differently as the pressure to the screen changes.
  • Rich Application Experience :Applications developed for iOS devices have richer Experience as compared with android devices because application developers on iOS platform are provided with good software and knowledge.
  • Easy OS Updates:Apple company manufactures devices based on iOS and also they develop iOS so the devices based on iOS gets easily upgrades of OS as compared with android because there are many manifacturers of android based devices.  

Disadvantges of iOS

  • Not Open Source:iOS is not open source so no one is allowed to download or see the source code of iOS.
  • Less Number of App. Developers:The count of App. developers based on iOS are less than android app.developers.
  • No USB-OTG Support:Because of security reasons iOS based devices are not supported to USB-OTG.we are unable to connect USB devices to the iOS based devices but there are some flash drives are available in the market that can be connected to iOS devices.
  • No Bluetooth Sharing:Many people think that iPhone does not have Bluetooth but it is false iPhone have Bluetooth but it may not be used to share files.  
  • No File manager:On iOS devices there is no any application for file managing the files on device until an unless you jail-break the device. 

Final Conclusion:

So, Android and iOS have their own pros and cons.In my point of view if you are going to buy a smart phone and security and performance requirement is very high the I would suggest to buy a smart phone base on iOS.If you are a new user for smart phone the you should prefer a Android based smart phone because of its simplicity but at last its is totally your decision to choose among these two smartphone OS.
